Last year, Chevy gave the Trax a face-lift both outside and in and added more technology, but the underlying mechanicals weren't changed.

For the love of God, this is a new car and I should not have to have problems like this nor have to feel unsafe driving the car wondering what is going to happen next!! The first few times with the trouble I was offered by Chevrolet an extended warranty on a car that I DO NOT WANT nor Trust, now they are telling me that if I want to do a buy-back, I have to have the car in for the same issue 3 or more times. Since this issue, in the last year I have had the turbo replaced, the radio/dash replaced twice and the radio and dash will still go black when driving the car, they have installed a cold weather package because the car would not heat, this past … Winter, I started my car to let it warm up and came out to it smoking like it was on fire and it had no power, supposedly there was a ball of ice in the turbo, how does that happen, it was never explained to me, the brakes have failed and for it being an AWD, I feel like a feather in front on a fan!! The TAC and fuel gauge have never worked. Within the 1st week of owning it I stated having problems. Ride quality is largely dependent on the trim level, though.I purchased a 2018 Trax in August, 2019.

(We found that the Premier's 18-inch wheels and low-profile tires let a fair amount of impact harshness into the cabin during our drive through Chicago.) Meanwhile, quick steering and limited body roll add to the Trax's nimble driving experience." - Car and Driver (2017)

AWD Trax models get moderately worse gas mileage, earning 24/30 mpg city/highway. The Trax gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, which are comparable to the ratings of many competitors. However, performance is generally fine for driving around town.

The engine also performs worse in all-wheel-drive models due to the AWD system’s added weight. Acceleration is lackluster, especially if you have more than a couple people in the vehicle. It’s mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Trax features a turbocharged, 1.4-liter engine that puts out 138 horsepower. "The Trax continues to drive confidently for its small footprint, but its engine remains loud and wheezy, and the short wheelbase makes for a bumpy ride over rough patches of pavement." - (2017)."In all, the Trax felt perfectly capable of handling your daily to and from work, trips to the grocery, and dropping your 1.5 children off to school." - Automobile Magazine (2017).So in spite of the improvements, the 2018 Trax's ride quality, performance and fuel efficiency all lag behind the rest of the class." - Edmunds "Last year, Chevy gave the Trax a face-lift both outside and in and added more technology, but the underlying mechanicals weren't changed.
